The plot & the end of the storyMr Williams,the protagonist of this story is a collector who works for the museum at the University of Oxford.One day,he received a painting which was not really good but the person who sent him the painting asked twenty pounds for it.So, Mr Williams wanted to find the reason to it.On the next severval days,he recognized that the figures in the picture can move.Then,he decided to find out where the picture drew.He look it up in his guidebook day and night and in the end, he find where the painting drew and know the painting’s painter is a dead person whose only son was killed in a murderous law case which was happened in the house which the painting painted.I think the painting showed the angry from the painter and suggest who is the killer.In ‘Rats’,the writer told us a story of meeting ghost in a hotel in the countryside.Mr Thomson,a young man from the University of Cambridge lived in a peaceful hotel.There are only five rooms in the hotel .The rooms were unlocked except a small room in the corner.The young man wondered what was in it.So,he stole a key from the hotel manager’s room and knocked it into the lock . When the door was open,he saw nothing but a metal bed covered with a bluishgrey blanket in the corner.Suddenly,something that made Thomson close the door very quickly and very quietly behind him,and then lean against the wall in the passage ,trembling all over.Under the blanket someone lay ,and not only lay ,but moved.Only the dead were all covered,but can the dead move? Mr Thomson fell in the deep thought .Next day,when he was having dinner,he asked the manager about that room.The manager was very nervous and said:‘Do not enter that room anymore!The ghost in that room used to be manager of this hotel and he was hanged because of doing bad things ’In ‘Casting the Runes’,Mr karswell is a man whose book was indeed badly written because other people thought his books on witchcraft was unbelievable .So, Mr karswell hated the people who refused him and used a kind of character called‘ rune’to imprecate the people he hated.(I think it is quite like the incantation in Harry Potter)When people saw the rune words Mr karswell wrote,he(or she)would die in three month.Unfortunately,Mr Dunning received a paper from Mr karswell and read the words on it.When Mr Dunning noticed that he was imprecated by Mr karswell,he came up with an idea.He moved to a house near Mr karswell’s in order to have chance to meet him.One day, Mr Dunning met Mr karswell in a train and when Mr Dunning went by ,he put the paper Mr karswell gave into the Mr karswell’s purse quickly,then he run away as fast as he can.Three months later ,Mr karswell died of hitting by a large piece of stone fallen from the roof ,but according to the survey by the police ,there was nobody on the roof when Mr karswell was hit.‘The Experiment’is a story about talking to the dead‘Oh,Whisle,and I’ll Come to You,My boy’is about a whisle that can summon ghosts.
